Lotus Notes 8.5 Out of Office Not Working

1. An Out of Office is enabled by user but is not working as expected. When enabled by user, it is not sending and auto reply.

2. On Domino Server miscellaneous logs, following information related to out of office feature is recorded. a. AMgr: Agent 'OutOfOffice|OutOfOffice' in 'Mail\userdb.nsf' does not have proper execution access, cannot be run b. Agent Manager: Error validating execution rights for agent 'OutOfOffice|OutOfOffice' in database 'Mail\userdb.nsf'. Agent signer 'User', effective user 'User2'. Users without rights to sign 'On Behalf' agents can only run agents on their own behalf.

3. Solution
  • Go to your Lotus Notes Designer client. Look in Code > Agents > OutOfOffice and check if it is enabled or disabled.  
  • If disabled, user must enable it.  
  • If it is enabled, delete the OutOfOffice agent and refresh design of the database so the agents gets recreated. Then user will have to enable it again. (It worked for me.)


4. If none of this work, contact IBM to open a case.
